"'V' for 'Vendetta'" is pure liberal fantasy-world politics
03.13.06 (7:44 am) [edit]I thought about seeing this film, but after reading this article "'V' is for 'Vicious Propaganda'", I might just save my money-- http://www.frontpagemag.com/A...

Man, if I refused to see movies that I was told I would disagree with, I'd never get out to the theater

Sounds like the next big award winner, which means sounds like a movie with few viewers and a loser of money bigtime.
We will see. I often struggle with the opinions of the critics. Many times, if they do not like a movie, it means it will be worth my investment of time and nine bucks (that's right it costs nine dollars around here to go see a movie). If the majority of the critics decide to love this movie, then indeed I will stay away.

Therealspartacus:
As a rule, movies that are political make for bad entertainment. So that is one reason why I don't see them. When people want to be entertained, they don't usually like to get pissed off. If, for example, Sparto, you are watching a movie about how great the war with Iraq is, you'd probably not like it. And you'd probably just have your own prejudices reinforced. So let's just dispense with the fake objectivity, ok?

Given that the "V for Vendetta" books were published from 1982-1985, I find it hard to believe that they, or the subsequent movie, had any political commentary on a war that took place 20 years later.

Yea, because its really hard for me to think of a great sci-fi film that is political. Every time they come out with a piece of anti-government propaganda set in a futuristic anti-utopia with plucky rebels using explosives to defeat the New World Order, it falls flat on its face. I honestly can't think of a single successful sci-fi film that was political....
