Genia should stick to talking about lesbians.
01.31.05 (9:57 am) [edit]Says Tblogger Genia http://www.tblog.com/template... :
"I have no doubt that GW's little GOP soldiers are applauding and gloating -- as if this seals some sort of declaration that their cowboy was right all along about those WMDs and Iraq being connected to 9/11."
Well, no one is gloating. Iraqis are happy. What the hell is wrong with that? Also, this "cowboy" was enforcing Bill CLinton's Iraq policy, enshrined in a 1998 law called The Iraqi Liberation Act, which was based on dozens of UN resolutions and declarations that said Iraq had WMD. The cowboy didn't lie, and it wasn't his policy. All he did was have the nerve to finally enforce the law.
And no one ever said Iraq was connected to 9/11. No one. This charge was conjured up by desperate left-wing nutjobs. What the Bush administration has said, and what has been proven, is that Iraq was connected to Islamic terrorism and even Al Qaeda.
Genia says:
"The sad part is that most of the people who are supporting GW and waving the flag of democracy have some idea that democracies everywhere are exactly like the system we use in the US. Any fool with even 1 brain cell in his or her head should know better."
THE IRAQIS THEMSELVES ARE GOING TO DRAW UP THE TYPE OF DEMOCRATIC GOVERNMENT THEY WILL HAVE. THEY WILL DO THIS THROUGH THE INTERIM GOVERNMENT THEY JUST SELECTED. It was always those Bush supporters that knew this. The President has said this. Paul Bremer has said this. Only the Democrats have insisted that any democracy in Iraq will not be legitimate.
Genia says:
"If we had that kind of democratic system in the United States, there would be times when a Democratic controlled Senate chose the President. The Senate was controlled by Democrats when Ronald Reagan was in office. Imagine the possibilities."
Damn our founding fathers! If we had 8 years of Jimmy Carter imagine those possibilities-- our economy might be third-rate by now. If we had 8 years of Walter Mondale (who got one state in the election, showing how popular he was), we would also be enjoying one of the highest tax rates in the world, while THE BERLIN WALL WOULD STILL BE UP, AFGHANISTAN WOULD BE OCCUPIED BY THE SOVIET UNION, RUSSIAN-SUPPORTED IRAN WOULD RULE THE MIDDLE EAST AND TERRORISM (WHICH ACCELERATED DURING THOSE GOLDEN CLINTON YEARS-- 9/11 WAS HATCHED DURING THE CLINTON YEARS) WOULD BE ON EVERY MAJOR STREET CORNER IN AMERICA.
Yes, Genia, imagine the possibilities.
Then Genia hopes:
"I don't see Iraq becoming an effective functioning democracy anytime soon. With "elected" officials that are hand-picked by the United States government to run as candidates in the first place, that has to be the most destructive way to start forming any democracy."
The UN helped run the elections in Iraq, and candidates were not "hand picked" by the US administration. But candidates had to meet certain requirements like, oh, not wanting to kill innocent men, women, and children. Even Al Sadr, who led massive revolts in Iraq against the US, was able to run. Damn the US...
Of course, the US started out as just a weak democracy, barely wobbling on its knees when Britain invaded it in 1812. The idea that because there is a shaky security situation in Iraq democracy won't take hold is laughable, and the hope that it won't is contemptible. Genia should be ashamed of herself.
Finally, Genia obseves:
"I say the Americans are getting more out of this than the Iraqis -- a hand-picked government in a country rich with oil. Gooo Democracy! "
Since we've already observed that the government isn't hand-picked, we strike down the notion that we're there for oil. We've been in Iraq 2 years, oil production is up higher than it was before the invasion, and the US is not siphoning oil from the country. Indeed, the Iraqis are selling it for themselves.
If Genia wants to find out who profitted off of human misery by getting cheap oil and defying international law, she should check out the massive UN oil-for-food scandal, where more enlightened countries like France, Germany, Russia, and CHina helped Saddam Hussein malnourish and kill his own people by exploiting loopholes in the UN Oil for Food Program.
Maybe Genia should stick with writing about lesbians.

Genia needs to get her story straight
01.25.05 (11:54 am) [edit]Genia of sisterstalk said awhile ago implied http://www.tblog.com/template...%20unions that there was no difference between a civil union and a marriage, but today she says that the pursuit of a gay marriage ban by the evil GOP is an attempt to produce equality for "heterosexuals only" http://www.tblog.com/template... .
If there is a ban on gay marriage, how would that deny gays equality if, by Genia's own admission, a marriage is no different than a civil union? If Genia acknowledges, then, that marriage is different than a civil union, then she has to question why it is different. And when she finds out that marriage is different from a civil union because it is an ancient trans-religious rite that unites a man and a woman, not members of the same-sex, what will her bitch be then?
I would point this out to her on her own site, but since she can only dish it out and can't take it, I have to resort to resurrecting my old blog one last time.
If she could only get her positions straight she might have a decent blog even if I disagreed with her.
Oh well.
